California Denies Traditional Families Right to Show ‘Pride’

Officials in one California municipality were pleased to announce that an event highlighting traditional family values will be denied a permit.

The City of Modesto used a blatant excuse to deny the National Straight Pride Coalition approval to hold an event and parade due to a minor setback with their insurance. When the Straight Pride group was informed that a carrier had dropped them, city officials promptly denied the application without affording the heterosexual organization time to shop for another insurance rider.

“As of tonight, I can confirm the City of Modesto will be denying the permit,” Modesto spokesman Thomas Reeves excitedly announced.

It almost goes without saying that if the tables were turned and the event was a Gay Pride gathering, officials would bend over backward to accommodate the organization. But double standards are par for the course in blue states such as California where liberal extremists hold political sway. That sentiment was apparent when the city’s spokesman made other remarks.

“We were informed today by the insurance carrier that they are denying insurance. If you don’t have insurance, you can’t reserve one of our parks,” Reeves reportedly said. “The second thing is our concern for safety. We have a big concern for the residents around Graceada Park where the event was planned to be held.”

The implication appears to be that so-called “straight” Americans are dangerous and should be held to higher scrutiny than LGBTQ residents. Um, what?

Reeves went on to state that Straight Pride could apply for a permit at a different location away from residential areas. In other words, Modesto officials don’t want the celebration of traditional values in plain sight.

“My presumption is that were being set up to be told that the bureaucratic process won’t be completed in time,” National Straight Pride organizer Don Grundmann reportedly said, suggesting the city council had ulterior motives. “Even if I turned in an insurance policy as I’m speaking to you, we would be told that it’s too late to complete the process. Maybe that isn’t true, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that occurs.”

Liberal Democrats who protested at the application meeting accused the Straight Pride organizers of being white supremacists, and the fake news media supported these unsubstantiated accusations.

“Everybody in the community has really been speaking out and taken a stance against this really harmful rhetoric that Don Grundmann is trying to bring to our community,” LGBTQ activist Matthew Mason reportedly said. “This isn’t ‘straight pride.’ This is hate pride. Dog whistling to white supremacy. This is not a positive message, and this community is committed to positivity, to love, to inclusion, and to diversity.”

Grundmann was mocked when he retorted, “You attacked us as racists. We haven’t done anything. We’re a totally peaceful racist group.”

Other openly gay Modesto residents have sided with the city denying Grundmann because of “all the hate that’s been going on.” Apparently, events that promote LGBTQ-only are considered “inclusive” while excluding straight people.

Although there has been no evidence that Straight Pride has any racist ties, the group would still have the right to freedom of assembly under the First Amendment. City officials continue to try to deny non-liberal organizations their rights whenever possible.

It’s ironic that gay Americans who fought to gain the right to hold Pride events and parades like this one and are now willing to deny others.

Such actions are telling about the liberal extremists’ agenda. Left-wing leaders garner votes under the guise they are champions of equality. When they grasp power, these same knights in shining armor weaponize their position and subvert the rights of people they disagree with. Media resources such as LA Weekly have published “gay dog-whistling” articles that direct anger and fear at the National Straight Pride Coalition.

On the one hand, LA Weekly says, “Heterophobia does not exist.” But in the very next sentence states, “Some LGBTQ people may be fearful of heterosexuals because of all the oppression we’ve experienced in the past, but that’s not the same thing. If I’m in a straight space as opposed to a gay one, I’m very mindful of who’s around me, and I’m careful to watch how I act, what I say and what I do.”

It’s obvious that California’s LGBTQ leaders and Modesto city officials have an inherent fear and loathing of heterosexual Americans.

As President Trump says, “Hate has no place in our country.” Of course, these same angry Democrats suffer Trump Derangement Syndrome. If traditional families are going to keep their Constitutional rights, the time to make a peaceful, lawful stand is now.
